Last week, Budd had the absolute pleasure of honouring one of its brightest stars, Di Bainbridge, who this year celebrates an incredible 50 years of service to the company. To mark this extraordinary milestone, friends, family, and colleagues gathered for a joyful celebration that was equal parts nostalgia, laughter, and heartfelt appreciation.
Budd hosted the event in a beautifully decorated private venue close to our Andover workroom, festooned with bunting, balloons and photos, and little touches that reflected Di’s warmth and humour. The moment guests arrived, it was clear the occasion was more than a party—it was a tribute to a woman who has shaped the heart of the company for five decades.
As faces from across the years arrived—some familiar, some long unseen—the room filled with emotional embraces, delighted exclamations, and countless stories that began with “Do you remember when…?” The evening was a living timeline of Di’s career, represented by the people who had shared it with her. There were laughs, a few tears, and many reminders of why Di is so treasured.
Budd’s Chairman, Stephen Murphy topped off the evening with the presentation of a commemorative gift and cake, with more poignancy still to come when Di’s daughter, Clare, now following in her mother’s footsteps at Budd, presented her with a stunning bouquet. Seeing two generations of Bainbridge women contributing to the company’s legacy brought cheers and a palpable sense of pride to the room.
The evening was a warm, happy reminder of the impact one person can have over a lifetime of service. Di’s loyalty, spirit, and unwavering commitment have touched countless lives, and this celebration was just a small token of the gratitude felt by all who know her.
