When Budd shirt makers opened in 1910, the St James’s area had always been a magnet for the style conscious - actors, poets, painters and assorted gentlemen of leisure included dandies like Beau Brummell and extrovert followers of fashion like Oscar Wilde.
A man could have his boots hand made by John Lobb in St James Street. After a hair cut at Trufitt’s Barbershop he could go for a hat fitting at Locks Hatters It was then a short walk to Berry Brothers where he could order his wine to be delivered to his chambers in Albany. Budd's shop was in the perfect spot to attract the big spenders.
