Morning Wear Guide
Morning dress is traditionally worn at weddings, garden parties, investitures and race meetings such as Royal Ascot. On such occasions a black herringbone coat worn with black and grey striped trousers is an excellent choice. This ensemble must include a waistcoat. This can be in traditional buff or grey, or for a flourish of colour, is wonderful in a pastel shade such as duck egg blue, yellow or pink. A grey morning coat with matching vest and trousers is an equally good option but allows for less creativity.
All outfits should be based upon a crisp white shirt, either a classic poplin or if it is a very special occasion why not try our sea island quality. To add some colour chose one of our pastel silk grenadine ties you could even add a batiste cotton hank as an extra sartorial touch. If braces are required - we stock the classic styles or for some wit and humour we have the Simon Drew exclusive designs.
For some additional charm, add understated leather gloves in traditional grey or chamois. If you're at the races you may need some extra warmth, in which case we would recommend our beautiful hogskin gloves either unlined or with a cashmere lining.
