This traditional black silk waistcoat is cut from faille – a finely chorded silk which is the favourite cloth for most Savile Row dress suits. It is worn with black bow tie and a dinner jacket. It is made in Huddersfield and cut to the original 1930s pattern – rounded lapel, 2 welt pockets, 3 buttons covered with the same silk. It has a fixed yoke which allows the waistcoat to hang perfectly. The waistcoat is backless, which will ensure you are cool and comfortable throughout the evening but holds itself snug to the body with a discreet rear waistband. The waistcoat has a special feature - a hidden elastic tab which anchors the base of the waistcoat to the top of the trousers – this means that when you’re moving between table, bar and dance floor that your upper and lower halves won’t part company. All Budd dress waistcoats come in different lengths M, L, XL, and XXL. Choosing the correct size depends on your height and body shape. The basic idea is that the middle button of the waistcoat should line up with the waistband of your trousers. So if you have long legs and a shorter body and your trouser waistband is worn high, you would choose a shorter waistcoat. If you are tall with long legs and a long body, you should opt for the longer version.
We advise that you contact the shop direct before you order your waistcoat – that way you’ll get expert advice on the correct size for you.It is customary to match the faille silk of the waistcoat with the same faille silk bow tie.
